Barbara A. Turner (PhD)

Barbara Turner started her journey into Jungian Sandplay therapy with Dora M. Kalff, the founder of the Sandplay therapy method, way back in 1988. Today, Dr Turner is a certified Sandplay therapist and a teaching member. In addition, she is also a registered Play Therapist-Supervisor and a licensed Marriage Family Child Therapist. Dr Turner is also the author of The Handbook of Sandplay Therapy, which is considered to be one of the most reliable texts on Jungian Sandplay. She teaches the wonders of sandplay and play therapy to mental health clinicians all over the world and is a renowned consultant to Sandplay and play practitioners.

This license to practice psychotherapy in the State of California is granted by the Board of Behavioral Sciences to applicants who hold a Masters Degree (minimum) in counseling psychotherapy, who have 3000 hours of supervised internship, 104 weeks of supervision, and who pass a demanding examination. This is the highest designation granted by the Association for Play Therapy, the largest professional association for play therapists in the world.

-APT Accredited Play Therapist
Dr. Turner is also registered as an Accredited Play Therapist with Play Therapy International.

-CST-T Certified Sandplay Therapist – Teacher
This is the highest designation granted by the International Society for Sandplay Therapy-Sandplay Therapists of America. Earning this certification involves rigorous training, experience, consultation, interviews, and written papers.

Ivan is an international trainer and Senior Faculty member of the William Glasser Institute and is a well known author, trainer and psychologist. He is the author of The Doug Dragster Program and a set of resources which is used to improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people. Ivan is the co-author of Cars’R’Us a unique and colorful therapeutic and management tool sold worldwide. Ivan is passionate about understanding and managing behaviour in a holistic way, and focuses on a positive psychology 2 which emphasises achievement of quality in all areas of life. Group participants report Ivan’s workshops to be dynamic, inspiring and captivating. His workshops are conducted in a safe, nurturing manner where learning takes place at a deep level. Workshops are interactive through hands on activities, role plays, music, video, and use a discovery and experiential learning approach.

Bob Taibbi is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 39 years experience primarily in community mental health working with couples and families as a clinician, supervisor and clinical director.

Bob is the author of 5 books:

  • Doing Family Therapy: Craft and Creativity in Clinical Practice, now in its second edition and recently translated into Chinese and Portuguese

In addition to his books, Bob writes an regular online column for Psychology Today magazine entitled Fixing Families , as well as a monthly parenting advice column for Charlottesville Family magazine.

He has also published over 250 magazine and journal articles, and has contributed several book chapters including Favorite Counseling Techniques: 55 Masters Share Their Secrets which cited him among the top 100 therapists in the country. He served as teen advice columnist for Current Health, a contributing editor to Your Health and Fitness, and has received 3 national writing awards for Best Consumer Health Writing.

Bob is a graduate of Rutgers University and the University of South Carolina, and has served as adjunct professor at several universities. He provides trainings nationally in couple therapy, family therapy, brief therapy, and clinical supervision. He is currently in private practice in Charlottesville, Virginia with Lewis Weber & Associates.
